Hello and welcome to 6th Grade Math! I am so excited to be your teacher this year. I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in December 2018 and studied middle grades mathematics. This is my first full year of teaching middle school math. I have previously taught 8th grade math/Algebra I as an interim teacher.

Contact: smith_emilee@hcde.org
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns that you may have throughout the year. Email is the best way to contact me, but if you prefer calling, please leave your name, contact information, and your reason for calling. Please keep in mind that I have classes throughout the day and will respond as soon as I can.
Supplies: Students will need 2 composition notebooks for the year. They will also need pencils and colored pencils.
Homework: Homework will be given on Mondays and be due on Fridays. Students need to work on their homework each night.
Tests and Quizzes: An assessment will be given every Thursday.
Error Analysis: Error analysis will be performed on previous assessments. This gives students the opportunity to earn points back on their assessments.
Late Work: 10 points will be deducted for each day an assignment is late for up to 3 days.
Absent: Students may make up work for the days they were absent. Students have 5 days to complete the assignments they missed.

What to expect for Quarter 1....
It will be an exciting 1st Quarter full of fluency, fractions, decimals, and rational numbers!

Week of August 12th:
1. A green homework sheet went home with students Monday. Students should work on their homework each night, as I check it every day. The homework sheet is due on Friday.

2. 1st Quiz on Thursday, August 15th!
