Ooltewah Middle Dress Code

Dress Code Specifics

Top: Girls
Collared shirts, no sleeveless or low cut tops, no offensive writing or graphics. Ooltewah t shirts may be worn on Tuesdays and any uncollared shirt with sleeves may be worn on designated dress down days. Light jackets, sweaters, hoodies, quarter zips, etc. may be worn any day over collared shirts. Heavy jackets must be placed in lockers.
Bottom: Girls
No athletic/Sweatpants or shorts at anytime. Shorts must be knee-length. Any color pants or shorts are allowed without writing on them. No sagging. Capris pants are allowed. Jean material and leggings are not allowed. No cut-offs,rips or holes in garments.
Top: Boys
Collared shirts, no sleeveless or low cut tops, no offensive writing or graphics. Ooltewah t shirts may be worn on Spirit Tuesdays. Light jackets, sweaters, hoodies, quarter zips, etc. may be worn any day over collared shirts. Heavy jackets must be placed in lockers.

Belt
Belts may be worn, but are not required.
(pants must be worn at an appropriate level, undergarments should not be exposed.)
Girls Socks
Socks are strongly suggested.
Boys Socks
Socks are strongly suggested.
Shoes
All shoes must be closed-toe and may not interfere with safety. For this reason, flip-flops, heels, sandals, and house slippers may not be worn.
Outerwear
Coats and heavy jackets may not be worn in the building; they must remain in lockers during the day. Coats may be worn in the morning and placed in the locker for the duration of the school day.
  Head Coverings and Accessories
Hats, toboggans, and bandanas may not be worn in the building.  

OMS Faculty reserves the right to address disruptive jewelry and accessories that interfere with the learning environment.

Dress Down Days:
Dress Down Days are earned through academics, displays of responsibility and good character, as well as attendance.  They generally occur on Fridays but are determined by OMS Administration and Faculty. Administration reserves the right to address any clothing or accessory deemed inappropriate or ask students to tuck shirts on designated days.
*Students who repeatedly violate the dress code will be denied dress down reward days.

Dress Down Day Guidelines

Clothing should be school appropriate.

Students may wear:

Blue jeans/colored jeans/shorts
Knee-length Colored shorts (cotton twill material or corduroy)
T-shirts
Shirts without collars

Students may not wear:

Clothing that has rips, holes, or tears
Sleeveless Tops
Athletic pants or shorts
Leggings
Clothing with offensive pictures or words

Administration reserves the right to address any clothing or accessory deemed inappropriate or distracting.
