Mrs.Harjes attended school in Hamilton County all through school. Mrs. Harjes graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in Education prek-3 and an endorsement in middle grades. Mrs. Harjes is currently obtaining her masters degree in teacher leadership through Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Harjes will be entering her seventh year of teaching math. Mrs. Harjes is married with two young boys.

SUPPLIES-Students will need two composition notebooks for the year. They will also need pencils, highlighters and colored pencils.
HOMEWORK- Homework will be given out on Mondays and will need to be turned in on Fridays. This way if students have sports games or family events they can work on their homework ahead of time.
Tests and Quizzes- Assessments will be given on Thursdays.
Error Analysis-Error analysis will be performed on previous assessments so students can correct and learn from their mistakes to get some credit back on their assessments.
Late work- ten point will be taken off each day an assignment is turned in late. Up to three days.
ABSENT-Students may make up work for days they are absent. 
Enrichment Link-  ITS WORKING NOW. Students usernames and passwords are in their agenda. IXL.com will be a great link for students to practice their work. They will receive a username and password once the school has assigned each student to the program. 
Week of 11/12/18
Students will be learning how to find the missing part or whole in relation to percents. Homework is due Friday. Quiz corrections are also due Friday. Quiz will be on Thursday.  
Week of 11/4/18
Students will review questions from the quiz because scores were low. Students will learn conversions and percents this week. Homework due Friday. Quiz Friday.
Week of 10/29/18
Students practiced ratios, tables and graphs. Homework is due Friday. Quiz Thursday.
Week of 10/22/18
Students will be learning how to compare ratios, find unit rate, apply ratios to tables and create an equation. Quiz on Thursday and hw due Friday.
Q2 Week of 10/15/8-10/19/18
Students will learn how to compare using ratios. Hw #1 will be due Friday. There will be no quiz.
Week #8 (10/1/18-10/5/18)
Students will be taking benchmarks for the county. Hw# 8 will be due Friday. No quiz this week due to the benchmark testing. Pictures are Friday. This is the last full week of this quarter.
Week #7 (9/24/18-9/28/18)
This week we learned how to multiply and divide with decimals. Hw #7 due Friday. Quiz Friday.
Week #6 (9/17/18-9/21/18)
This week we will be learning how to divide mixed numbers. We will learn how to change them into improper fractions, multiply by the reciprocal and simplify. Quiz on Thursday. Hw #6 due Friday.
Week #5 (9/10/18-9/14/18)
This week we will be learning how to divide fractions by multiplying by the reciprocal. Homework #5 is due Friday. Quiz Thursday. Corrections in class on Friday.
Week #4 (9/2/18-9/7/18)
This week students will learn distributive property using the greatest common factor. The will have review stations on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be review on fractions. No quiz this week. Homework #4 will be due Friday.

Week #3 (8/27/18-8/31/18)
This week students will learn what factors and multiples are. They will learn how to find greatest common factors and least common multiples. Students will start applying GCF and LCM with distributive property and word problems. Homework #3 will be due Friday. Quiz on Friday.

Full week #2 (8/20/18- 8/24/18)
This week students will work on long division in word problems. Recognizing that a word problem is asking them to divide. Students will be given a quiz on Thursday. They will be doing an error analysis on their quiz on Friday. Homework Week #2 will be due Friday. Students can turn their homework in early if they finish.
Full week #1 (8/13/18 - 8/17/18)

This week students will start off with long multiplication. We will be moving into long division on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday students will be taking a county screen-er. Homework sheet #1 will be given out Monday and will be due Friday. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Students will be able to take their notes home daily and will be able to study their notes. Please note students do not need to solve number 5 on homework for Monday. The quiz listed on the homework sheet is cancelled due to testing on Friday.
