My name is Lisa Gossett and this is my 10th year teaching art at OMS!  I am originally from Pennsylvania but have called TN home for the past 14 years.  I have a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design and a Masters in Secondary Education.  I enjoy my extra time here at school helping coach OMS Boys soccer.  I am happily married and enjoy spending my free time with our dog Daisy!

Supplies: Will be provided by the school this year!

Welcome to Visual Arts, home of the 6th, 7th and 8th grade artisans!  Our goal is to allow the students to experience the different media of art and hopefully find an area of interest.  Art Class is a time for your child to be expressive and to have fun!
What is necessary is a good attitude, a willingness to try new things, good listening skills, teamwork skills, and a sense of exploration and curiosity to individually meet project requirements. Art provides the opportunity for students to experience a different atmosphere from the standard classroom settings. It can be fun, relaxing, hands-on, messy, exciting, and social.

Students will be required to complete a warm-up every morning during class and they will also be required to complete a weekly sketch every Friday.

Students will be expected to finish projects in class but if students do not use time wisely they may be expected to finish projects at home.

Late Work Policy from Hamilton County:

Late work will only be accepted for 3 days past the due date and students lose a percentage of credit for every day that it is late

Students who were absent on the day an assignment was given have 5 school days to turn in the work for full credit.
