Advice for Students: Help yourself stay academically organized and more productive by writing down your assignments! No agenda mate? No problem! You can use anything from a sheet of paper, the downloads below, or try a new Apps designed for this!

Coping with Changes: Resources for Students

The outbreak of coronavirus AND transiting to a new way of learning from home could certainly come with strong emotions. Below are some activities, worksheets, websites and apps, your counselors pulled together in an effort to help support students' mental health during this time.  

Counselor’s are available to go over any of these worksheets/activities with students individually (via phone or video/zoom).  Please reach out to talk more about any struggles you are experiencing and need help with. Remember, we are just an email away!

Meet your School Counselor!


  Ms. Jamie Stephens -
Bio: Ms. Stephens holds a Bachelor's in Education, a Bachelor's in Psychology, and a Master's degree in School Counseling from UTC. Ms. Stephens began her teaching career at OMS in 2003 having  taught 6th and 7th grade until 2013. In 2014 she moved into the Ooltewah Middle School Counseling position.  A mother of 2 previous OMS students, she also serves as the cheer and golf coach, assistant wrestling coach, fundraising chair, and web manager for OMS. 

Ms. Stephens is our full-time counselor, serving all grade levels.

Ms. Amanda Smith
Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Milligan College and a Master of Education in School Counseling from UTC. This is Ms. Smith's first year at OMS and she splits her time between OMS and Hixson Middle School. Prior to working at OMS, Ms. Smith has worked as a High School Counselor in Pasco County, Florida and Roane County, Tennessee and as a substitute teacher in HCS.

Ms. Smith is our part-time counselor, serving 6th grade.
She is at OMS on Mondays and Thursdays every week and Wednesdays during the 1st and 3rd quarters.
