Dress Code Guidelines

Ooltewah Middle School Dress Code 2023-2024

Student dress should reflect the atmosphere of learning.

 

The Principal reserves the right to address any clothing or accessory deemed inappropriate or distracting to the learning environment. The Principal will make final decisions on all dress code questions.

Shirts

 

Shirts MUST cover cleavage, midriffs/stomachs, backs and shoulders. No “off the shoulder” tops. Shirts may not depict suggestive wording, pictures, graphics, or advertisements for alcoholic beverages, tobacco, drugs, sex, gangs, etc. Students will not be allowed to turn shirts inside out. We encourage students to wear OMS shirts


Outerwear

 

(Sweaters/Sweatshirts/Jackets/Coats/Hoodies, ETC.)

Appropriately sized jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, and sweaters are allowed. If removed, appropriate dress code MUST be worn underneath. Blankets are not allowed to be worn during the school day.

 

Pants/Shorts

 

(Jeans, Khakis, Sweatpants, Athletic Shorts)

They must be worn at the waistline, size appropriate, must not sag, and underwear shall not show. There should be NO holes and/or rips above the knee that reveal skin. 

  • All shorts MUST end at or below “finger-tip length

  • Skirts and dresses are not allowed at any time

  • No pajamas are to be worn


Shoes

 

Shoes or other appropriate footwear MUST be worn at all times. House shoes, slippers, slides, and crocs  are NOT allowed at any time.


Accessories:

  • Head coverings/hats/caps/bandanas/sunglasses/wallet chains are not permitted.



Any student refusing to adhere to the dress code is subject to administrative discipline set forth by the HCS Code of Acceptable Behavior.
